Sreng Hem: From Paris Homeless World Cup to professional footballer in Cambodian Premier League

In his second season as a professional footballer former HFCA star Sreng Hem has been playing some great football in his debut season in the Cambodian Premier League. Playing right back in the Kirivong Sok Sen Chey FC team Sreng has impressed with his passing ability and his desire to fight for every ball. One of the smallest players in the team he never backs down from a challenge.

Having played against Brazil and Argentina in the 2011 Homeless World Cup he came back a changed young man. He had overcome all the challenges life had thrown at him and having been voted the best Cambodia player in France he wanted more. He joined a gym and worked out every day. Practiced hard and gave everything on and off the pitch.

"HFCA taught me the importance of working hard and been part of a team. Going to Paris made me believe anything is possible. I love been a professional footballer as this is what I dreamed about since I was a little boy."

The Cambodian Premier League has 12 teams with each team playing a total of 22 games. After 13 rounds of the season Kirivong Sok Sen Chey FC are 12th with a total of 5 points. It's going to be a struggle to avoid relegation but everyone at the club is fighting till the last game of the season.

"I know Sreng since 2009, and they have always been a great ambitious and strong person to achieve everything they want. Eventually, Sreng realized his wishes, for example from a regular player to a professional player."

"
I think that what Sreng did is really worth admiring and can be a good example for other youths. At the same time, I would like to invite all of the youths who joined the football training with HFCA to learn about Sreng's success." Vibol Chao, HFCA Country Manager
