After tough games against 2015 HWC champions Mexico and one of the tournament favorite's Indonesia we grew into the tournament as our players slowly adjusted to the stadiums, weather conditions and improved game by game. Some close games against Austria, Norway and Finland saw the team improve. Whilst we lost these matches we kept believing. With one of the best goalkeepers Sang Keo in goal we finally won our first game against Slovenia and then proceeded to win three in a row against Greece, Holland and USA before the final. The rest is history.
After the final HFCA Country Manager and Coach Assistant Vibol Chao said:
"I never think of our team winning any part of trophy from Homeless World Cup in shortly time but from time to time team Cambodia has been learned and improved being strong and stronger. After winning the semi final and I talked to our players at the morning meeting that I dreamed last night that we are winning the final game and all players laugh at me but I told them you will have chance to win if you follow my/Jimmy instruction because I have watched two Sweden games and only one player number 10 as good as Minea and other as the same you too. So team working, learning, discussing and sitting strategy always become successful. The truly from my heart, after the final game, I feel so happy and strongly believe that the winning become from trying and trying of hard worked"
