After extensive consultation with our NGO partners Cambodian Children's Fund and Build your Future Today, we have organised a detailed schedule for the year with 281 football activities confirmed. All dates, times, venues, transportation and staffing arrangements locked in from 6th of January to 17th of December 2023.
Last year HFCA delivered 191 football activities (All Child Protection Safe) for underprivileged youth in Phnom Penh city and Siem Reap province. To increase our output this year to 281 football activities (47% increase) will push the HFCA organisation to the limit but if we all come together as a team we can do it!
100% of HFCA program participants are from an underprivileged background. All ten HFCA staff who are performing coaching and logistical support roles are Cambodian and from the same underprivileged background as the players IE former HFCA players or graduates from our NGO partners.
In Phnom Penh city HFCA also has three programs which are solely focused on increasing female participation in football. All players in these programs come from our NGO partner Cambodian Children's Fund.
HFCA launched our Senior Women's Program in January 2022 and these young women are trailblazers in Cambodia as they played three matches last year, on full size pitches over 90 minutes with referees and linesmen. Relatively speaking that is not a lot of football matches but in Cambodia opportunities for women to access proper football experiences are very very limited.
Inspired by their older sisters in the Senior Women's team, these girls from our Junior Girls team started playing football for the first time in early November 2022. They love the game and recently played their first competitive football match in February, having joined a seven a side tournament.
Our youngest players are sure to be stars of future HFCA teams. These girls are starting at the right age to ensure they have all the foundational skills to be potential professional footballers in the future!
In Siem Reap province HFCA also has three programs as part of our goal to give rural underprivileged children access to sporting programs. All players in these programs come from our NGO partner Build your Future Today and the programs are mixed with boys and girls attending.
The Sras Srong Village program was launched in February 2020 and has been running weekly since January 2022. HFCA is delighted to have one of Cambodia's biggest banks, Wing Bank as a key program sponsor.
The Oroong Village program was launched in February 2020 and has been running regularly since January 2022. It's a five hour round trip from Siem Reap city to Oroong village so HFCA operates this football program twice a month with on average 25 girls attending each training session.
The Chub Smach Village program was launched in February 2020. Due to the four hour round trip from Siem Reap city to Chub Smach village HFCA runs our football program twice a month with on average 15 girls attending each training session.
