With an average age of eleven and playing in their 1st ever tournament, our HFCA girls, all from underprivileged backgrounds, played six matches in the one day event.
It was not easy to secure the trophy as we lost two matches in the group stages but saved our best performances for the semi final and final. Displaying resilience and teamwork, HFCA made a stunning comeback from previous losses to deliver inspiring performances in the finals, securing their place in the history of GOFC.
Our team beat ISI in the final after a 0 - 0 draw and then penalties. We lost to ISI in the group stage 4 - 0 so ISI were clear favourites in the final.
All of the HFCA girls who took part in this tournament are from our Phnom Penh based partner Cambodian Children's Fund. Special thanks to our all women coaching team from our friends Phnom Penh Crown FC.
