News HFCA launch a new program for underprivileged girls aged 13 to 15

On the 20th November 2022 our newest players joined the HFCA Junior Girls Program in Phnom Penh. 20 girls took part in their 1st formal football training and HFCA hopes to instil in them a passion for football and exercise which will stand to them for years to come.

Football has become extremely popular in Cambodia over the last five years. Unfortunately there is still much work to be done to increase access opportunities for girls and in particular girls from underprivileged backgrounds. All our players come from our long standing NGO partner Cambodian Children's Fund.

“We need to have women in more powerful positions that are making decisions, so when that 10-year-old girl is looking up and wondering, ‘What can I do and what do I want to be when I get older?’ She has the opportunity to do and be whatever she wants.” Abby Wambach, USA football player, two time Olympic Gold medal winner and FIFA Womens World Cup 2015 Gold medal winner
