News Ten years since Cambodia took part in 2011 Paris Homeless World Cup

In September 2011 HFCA entered the Cambodian team for the 9th Homeless World Cup which was hosted by France.

It was Cambodia's 4th time to take part in this annual event and we joined 48 nations from around the world at this huge international tournament.

The team gave their all on the pitch, winning three games against Sweden, Canada and Japan. At times we struggled against some of the European and South American teams whose superior skills and greater physical size made it difficult to compete but the team always gave 100%.

For our group of young men it was a life changing experience as it was their first time to go overseas, first time on an airplane and they loved seeing Paris which is one of Europe's great cities.

One of the highlights of our time in Paris was meeting the Cambodian Ambassador to France. The players were honoured to meet HE Uch Kiman and he encouraged the team to give their all for the Kingdom of Wonder. Hard to believe ten years have passed since our magical journey to France.
