Visiting the sites such as Angor Wat, Siem Riep, The Palace, The Museum, The Kiling Fields and more was on the agenda along with visits to see the program in action.
A highlight was the ReUnion Cup which brought together the players from all seven previous Homelss World Cup teams, as well as the team headed for Amsterdam. The group also got to see first hand the Press Conference when the team was presented to local media.
Thanks to a grant from the Uniting Church, we were able to see the HFCA programme in action. To see those happy, enthusiastic boys and girls put real meaning into the assistance we have been giving for six years or so and, along with meeting the team of fine, fit young men about to leave for the Homeless World Cup in Amsterdam, left me in no doubt that we will renew and develop our commitment in the future.

If you take a few strangers of varying ages, add an energetic and flexible tour organiser along with a great conversationalist and send them to Cambodia, united by a common goal, chances are it will be a wonderful experience for all involved. To be part of Happy Football Cambodia Australia is a privilege for me and it was rewarding to be able to share with my fellow travellers the training sessions and the Reunion Cup. By talking to the boys about their triumphs and continuing aspirations it was evident that this program contributes significantly to the goal of developing leadership skills and self-esteem. It was good to be able to support many other NGOs during this visit. To be to be a participant at any level is a rewarding experience.
