“In the next 5 to 10 years, we want to work with even more disadvantaged youth — not just 5,000, but 10,000. HFCA want underprivileged children in Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and provinces across Cambodia to have the opportunity to play football and use this skill to build confidence, strengthen their abilities and succeed in life,” Paraic Grogan, Founder HFCA
The VIP teams taking part were coached by professional football managers Conor Nestor and Colum Curtis. Nestor and Curtis, both originally from Ireland, have extensive experience of managing in the Cambodian Premier League and top clubs in other SE Asia countries, so HFCA were honoured to have them involved.
''It is my utmost pleasure, my honour to be a part of this wonderful organisation. The work HFCA is doing is very very important. Today was so much fun and I am so grateful to be part of it. I am looking forward to another amazing 20 years." Sarita Reth, Cambodian Advisory Board member
For the VIP game, HFCA designed a match experience that ensured all players were fully involved. With players aged 16 to 65, as well as both men and women, and some former professional players joining participants playing their first ever game of football it was a great experience for all involved.
"CCF has a lot of good programs but the football program we really rely on HFCA. They design the programs, organise the games, they do everything. I dont think its a coincidence that our students that have played international tournaments with HFCA, have gone on to good things and have a real sense of confidence'' Scott Neeson, Founder CCF
Forty players from Cambodia and across the world joined in a VIP match with the HFCA Elephants taking on the HFCA Tigers and another 64 underpriviledged youth from Phnom Penh and Siem Reap played in our U16 Youth Tournament
HFCA and our long standing NGO partners CCF (Cambodian Children's Fund) from Phnom Penh, and BFT (Build your Future Today) from Siem Reap, were an integral part of the day. HFCA and CCF have been official partners since 2009 and HFCA and BFT official partners since 2014.
Commemorating twenty years of changing the lives of 5,000 underprivileged Cambodian youth since 2005 with an amazing morning of football at this wonderful stadium was so special for HFCA (Happy Football Cambodia Australia).
