''For our students, the experience is transformative. They gain cultural understanding, build genuine connections with local communities, and learn how service, teamwork and sport can create joy and opportunity for others. HFCA’s work is vital, using football as a pathway to education, wellbeing and community development and it provides Ivanhoe Grammar with an opportunity to act with integrity and purpose."

“The Village Cup was an unforgettable part of Ivanhoe’s Cambodia Service Trip. As a pitch manager, I helped organise the timings and keep the matches running smoothly. Seeing how excited the kids were to play for their “Village” made every moment worthwhile. It was a real highlight of the trip — an experience we’ll carry with us long after leaving Siem Reap.”

"The Ivanhoe Grammar Village Cup” tournament began in 2023 after discussions with HFCA. Recognising that village teams had passion and talent, yet few opportunities to participate in a structured sporting event, with many players having never visited Siem Reap or its world‑heritage‑listed Temples, the idea came to life said David Gibbs, IGS Cambodia Service Trip Co‑ordinator "Our students proudly bring the community together for a day of celebration and pride. This student‑managed event is unique and has become the most anticipated part of our program. Seeing returning players with improved skills, new teams joining in, and whole families gathered around the pitch shows how deeply valued this tradition has become."
HFCA's 80 youth came from Oroong Village, Chub Smach Village & Sras Srong Village in Siem Reap Province. They were split evenly with 40 girls in one tournament and 40 boys in another tournament and both mini tournaments running concurrently. Each team had a minimum of three matches each.
Coming all the way from Australia our close friends IGS (Ivanhoe Grammar School) travelled to Siem Reap and their 100 students were amazing as they ran all aspects of the tournament. It was also an amazing day of football, fun and learning for HFCA players, all of whom are from isolated rural villages in Siem Reap province.
