Founded in 2005, the BSL (Bangkok Soccer League) 7’s tournament is now in its 20th year and this upcoming edition for girls will have 40 teams across age groups ranging from Under 10’s to U18’s. Teams from Thailand, Philippines, Singapore, Vietnam, Malaysia as well as the HFCA Cambodian team will be taking part. HFCA will play seven matches in the Under 16 competition in a seven a side format with games lasting 18 minutes.

“HFCA’s presence reflects the spirit of this girl’s tournament, which goes beyond competition to celebrate football, friendship, and fun. As teams from across Southeast Asia and Thailand come together, we are reminded of the unifying power of sports to create lasting memories and connections" said  Doron Shahar, Founder BSL 7's tournament "We hope HFCA enjoy not only the matches but also the camaraderie and cultural exchange that this festival fosters.”

“Football has helped me a lot. It has made me healthy and strong, and I am more confident than before. It also releases my stress. It’s important for girls to play sports and you can learn a lot from football, like teamwork and communication'' said Chanthy Sokha Pich, HFCA player (aged 15) “In my family, no one has ever travelled abroad. They are very proud of me for getting this chance. I am very excited to play with teams from other countries in this upcoming competition in Thailand."

"Sports is also another form of learning. It teaches our CCF girls' character and self-discipline, it also shapes our students toward real life, e.g. play by the rules, how to cope with their emotions when they win or lose, etc" said Kram Channoeurn, Country Manager of Cambodian Children's Fund. "This is why CCF and HFCA work so closely together supporting girls to access football programs. Travelling overseas will widen their perspectives to the outside world and I wish them a fantastic tournament"

Our 12 players come from our two NGO partners, CCF (Cambodian Children’s Fund) based in Phnom Penh and BFT (Build your Future Today) based in Siem Reap province. Four of the team are from CCF and another eight are from BFT with four girls joining from Oroong Village, Siem Reap province. Another four girls are from Sras Srong village, Siem Reap province. Nine of twelve players are travelling overseas for the first time.
