“We are excited and very much looking forward to welcoming HFCA back to the JSSL Singapore 7s in 2026. They last appeared at the tournament in 2023 as the first team from Cambodia to compete in Singapore and HFCA brought tremendous spirit, character, and passion to the competition.” Harvey Davis, JSSL 7s Founder & Tournament Director

Tey joined the HFCA program in Oroong aged 10 and she is super excited to fly for the first time.

“I’ve been training for more than four years with HFCA.” Sreytey explained. I never imagined I would have the chance to fly abroad because I’m the child of farmers in a remote area and we don’t have the means to travel overseas,”

“I’m very excited that HFCA chose us to compete in Singapore. I’m looking forward to seeing the outside world and how big and beautiful it is.” she added.

This trip is especially meaningful to the people of Oroong, a rural isolated village which HFCA have been working in since 2020. The recent border clashes between Cambodia and Thailand had a significant impact on the Oroong community.

Sreypov Roeun, principal of Oroong School, noted that the village lies close to the border.“We were all afraid. While we were playing football, we could hear artillery shells landing near the school and shaking the ground. We were forced to close the school because it was too dangerous to continue studying.”

Thankfully the conditions have since calmed, and Oroong village was thrilled to learn about the opportunity to travel to Singapore.

“It’s not only the students— even we teachers never imagined we would fly to another country like Singapore and participate in such a big event,” added Sreypov.“We are grateful to HFCA for giving this opportunity to our remote school."

HFCA have chosen ten players to compete in Singapore with six from our Siem Reap based NGO partner Build your Future Today and another four from our Phnom Penh based NGO partner Cambodian Childrens Fund. The six girls from Siem Reap province come from two villages known as Oroong Village and Sras Srong Village.

The 2026 JSSL Singapore 7s tournament will host over 500 teams and 6,000 players/coaches from 17 nations who will enjoy Asia’s largest youth championship which will be held at six venues across Singapore.
